Bathroom Remodeling in Older Homes
A new bathroom built on new pipes and proper waterproofing, finished to fit the age and style of the house.
Under the tile
Older bathrooms often hide cast iron drains, galvanized supply lines and a subfloor softened by slow leaks. We remove the old finishes, replace what has failed and repair the framing so the new bathroom starts on a sound floor.
Waterproofing done right
Original tile was often set in a thick mortar bed that held up for decades. Modern showers rely on a waterproof membrane behind the tile instead. We install and test it before tile goes on, so water stays where it belongs.
A bath that suits the house
Hex and subway tile, a pedestal sink or a clawfoot tub can make a new bathroom feel native to an older house. So can a clean modern room. We help you choose and keep original details such as a window, a door or a medicine cabinet when they are sound.
Bathroom Remodeling: questions
Often, by borrowing space from a closet, a hallway or a bedroom. The main question is where the drain can run. We check that at the walk-through.
If the enamel is sound, yes. Cast iron tubs can be refinished and reinstalled with new drains and valves.
When the walls are open, we recommend it. Old supply lines and drains are replaced with modern pipe before the room is closed and tiled.
