Rebuilding a House After a Fire
We assess what fire left behind, demolish what cannot stay, and rebuild a house that can carry the look of the old one forward.
What survived and what did not
After a fire, some parts of a house may be reusable: a foundation, a chimney base, sections of framing. Others are damaged by heat, smoke or water in ways that are not obvious. We assess the structure with an engineer before anything is planned.
Carrying the old house forward
If you want the rebuilt house to look like the one you lost, we can work from photos, old permits and surviving details to bring back the rooflines, windows and trim, built to current code.
Permits and inspections
A fire rebuild needs demolition and building permits, and current code may differ from what the old house was built under. We prepare the plan set with your designer, file it and follow it through every inspection.
Fire Rebuild & Reconstruction: questions
Often in appearance. Current code applies to the new structure, so wiring, framing, insulation and some materials will be different.
Sometimes. Heat can weaken concrete and reinforcing steel. An engineer tests and decides.
We provide the written scope and pricing your insurance carrier asks for. The claim itself stays between you and your carrier.
